Disable sharing for Google Drive

Google support said it is not possible to remove internal and external sharing of the entire Drive of individual users.

The only way is for users to go through their thousands of folders/files and remove access.

Is there a script or something to achieve this either from the user's end or from the admin's?

You can do this with the free, open source, command-line, indispensable GAM tool. Check out:

for more details.

Specifically, see https://github.com/GAM-team/GAM/wiki/GoogleDriveManagement for more details.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thank you, Ian! This is helpful.

I am still exploring the options. I cannot find a way to restrict the entire personal Drive contents to the owner. Hopefully I get some help from the GAM usergroup.

Perhaps using DLP rules would be an alternative solution for this? See  https://support.google.com/a/answer/9646351?hl=en

The drive trust rules are not applicable for shared drives.
